Our Halloween fundraiser directly benefits women who are returning to school to
start a new career. The Women's Business Support Network Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, was formed by a group
of women who wanted to help other women. The purpose of the Foundation is to further the education of women re-entering the
work force.
Toward this end, the foundation offers competitive scholarships to women, whether their
goal is graduate school or junior college.
Begun in 1988 with a $500.00 grant from Southwestern Bell which was awarded to one recipient,
the foundation has grown to be a meaningful influence in the community. It has flourished through subsequent corporate grants,
and the dedicated fund-raising efforts and donations of WBSN members, past and present.
The foundation scholarships have enabled many, many women in Houston and Harris County to
realize not only higher education levels, but also the value inherent in helping others achieve their dreams.
WOMENADE OF HOUSTON's fundraiser helps the Foundation give more scholarships to help more
women.
